Xbox Game Pass is set to include Madden NFL 24 in its lineup starting February 8. This marks the fourth addition to Microsoft’s subscription service since the beginning of the month and the first sports title to join Xbox Game Pass since F1 23’s debut in mid-January.
Released for PC and consoles in mid-August, the latest installment in EA’s Madden series didn’t have a same-day release on Microsoft’s subscription service. However, Xbox Game Pass members had a brief opportunity to play Madden NFL 24 for free back in September.
Now, the offer is making a return indefinitely as Madden NFL 24 will soon join the February lineup of Xbox Game Pass releases. Though the AAA title from EA Sports hasn’t appeared in the XGS library as of 4 am ET, eager subscribers can dive into its 10-hour free trial available via Game Pass. Progress from the demo carries over to the full version of the football simulation game. The trial itself is planned to be removed from Xbox Game Pass once Madden NFL 24 is added to the content library.

While the addition of Madden NFL 24 to Xbox Game Pass may reduce interest in its predecessor, previous entries in the franchise aren’t expected to leave Microsoft’s subscription service anytime soon. Recent installments, including Madden NFL 23 and 22, have had extended stays on Game Pass, ranging from 18 months to two years. Consequently, the upcoming release of the latest franchise entry might only lead to the immediate removal of Madden NFL 22 from Game Pass, while the 2023 installment will likely remain available for now.
As of 4 am ET on February 8, Madden NFL 24 has yet to be added to Game Pass. In the meantime, subscribers can enjoy its 10-hour trial available via Game Pass, supporting save data transfer to the full version of the game.
While some football enthusiasts may prefer the continued availability of last year’s game, which still holds higher esteem, Madden NFL 24 has faced criticism since its release, particularly regarding its monetization practices and overall polish, or lack thereof. Madden NFL 24 will be exclusively available to PC Game Pass and XGS Ultimate members with access to the EA Play catalog.
Looking ahead, at least five more titles are slated to join the Xbox Game Pass library before the month concludes. The first of these additions is Capcom’s Resident Evil 3 remake, set to arrive on the service on February 13.
