Final Fantasy XIV is on the verge of making its debut on Xbox Series X|S, marking a significant milestone over a decade after its initial launch on PC and PlayStation 3.
While Sony players have been able to enjoy the game on PlayStation 4 and 5 since the release of those next-gen consoles, Microsoft fans have been eagerly awaiting their turn, which is finally on the horizon. With the announcement of FFXIV’s upcoming expansion, Dawntrail, developers confirmed that the game would finally be making its way to Xbox. Here’s what we know about its release on the Microsoft console.
Release date of Final Fantasy XIV on Xbox Series X|S
Dawntrail is slated for an early Summer 2024 release, although a specific timeframe has yet to be disclosed. The Xbox Series X|S debut is anticipated to coincide with this timeframe, with a simultaneous release being the most probable scenario.
However, there’s a possibility that developers may opt to conduct preliminary testing of the game on the platform prior to the typical expansion release frenzy. Consequently, players may have the opportunity to experience FFXIV on Xbox Series X|S even earlier.
Additionally, an open beta is in the works, scheduled to commence on Feb. 21 at 2am CT. The duration of the beta remains uncertain at this point. Only new players will be eligible to participate in testing the game on the Microsoft platform, while existing subscribers who have been playing on other platforms will need to exercise patience.
Despite not being the official release, the imminent availability for testing is a promising sign. If the testing phase proves successful, we can reasonably anticipate the official release of Final Fantasy XIV on Xbox Series X|S in the coming months.
