Apex Legends’ season 20, Breakout, marked the revival of a beloved POI, revamped and reimagined as a Mixtape map, alongside updates to Museum on World’s Edge, and modifications to the standard map rotation.
Throughout its five-year journey, Apex has introduced five playable battle royale maps, with Broken Moon being the latest inclusion in November 2022. However, while all maps are accessible in the custom game browser, not all of them are featured in the pubs and ranked rotation each season, as Respawn Entertainment alters the map rotation with every major scenery adjustment.
Starting in season 16, Apex’s live map rotation gained prominence as Respawn implemented sweeping changes to the ranked playlist to adapt to the seasonal map rotation. Instead of sticking to the same map for entire splits, three maps rotate rapidly at a time—every 24 hours in ranked and roughly every hour in pubs.

Season 20 introduced a significant map change to World’s Edge, with Museum receiving a new exhibit focused on the origins of the Apex Games. It is brimming with high-tier loot, interactive exhibits, and Easter eggs. Additionally, Olympus makes a return to the standard map rotation after two seasons, replacing King’s Canyon in standard and ranked modes.
All Apex Legends season 20 maps in rotation for Mixtape
Season 20 introduces the new Thunderdome map, the largest map added to the Mixtape playlist. It features three main lanes and three levels of elevation, enabling various strategies of attack and defense across Control, Gun Run, and Team Deathmatch.
To celebrate the revival of this fan-favorite location in the Apex Games, the Mixtape playlist will exclusively feature Thunderdome as the playable map for the first week of the season, before reverting to the standard three-map rotation on Feb. 19.
The new rotations, alongside the system updates to Legend armor and the Legend upgrades for all 25 playable characters, are now available in Apex across all platforms.
