What Accessibility Features Does Nightingale Offer?

It’s crucial for modern video games to incorporate appropriate accessibility features, ensuring that everyone can immerse themselves in the captivating stories and worlds they offer. So, what accessibility features does Nightingale provide?

Accessibility Features in Nightingale

Nightingale revolves around PvE exploration and adventure, emphasizing survival and crafting mechanics. It doesn’t include a PvP mode against human players. Nonetheless, the studio has strived to include numerous accessibility features in Nightingale to accommodate as many players as possible.

Unfortunately, the team acknowledged that individuals with low or no vision may find the game challenging without assistance. However, they did implement several visual accessibility options, alongside general difficulty settings, an autosave feature, key remapping, partial controller support, run toggle, toggle crouch, mouse sensitivity adjustments, inverted controls, custom waypoints, controller dead zone tweaks, and map zoom.

For the PC gaming community, these additions are certainly welcomed in any new release.

Visual Accessibility Options in Nightingale

Personally, as someone with severe arachnophobia (I couldn’t play Grounded!), I’m thrilled about some of these visual accessibility adjustments.

  • Arachnophobia Mode: Replaces the legs of Spider and Scorpion creatures with wings and swaps their visual effects with ant models, while retaining the original audio.
  • Third-Person: Players can switch between first-person and third-person, over-the-shoulder camera modes.
  • Disable Motion Blur: Provides an option to disable motion blur in the menu.
  • FOV Sliders: Allows adjustment of the field of view.
  • Brightness: Enables adjustment of brightness levels.
  • Disable Camera Shake: Removes camera shake when players move or take damage.
  • Audio Subtitles: Provides subtitles for voiced characters in the game.
  • Head Bob: Head-bobbing in first and third-person view modes is disabled by default.

Communication Accessibility Options

Lastly, the studio introduced several communication accessibility options for party play:

  • Party Text Chat
  • Party Voice Chat
  • Emotes
  • Mute
  • Speech-to-Text Input

Inflexion Games has made significant efforts to ensure that their survival crafting game, Nightingale, offers a variety of ways to play for the entire community!
