Fall Damage Explained
The game indicates the potential fall damage based on the height of the drop. Higher falls result in more severe damage, with characters going prone upon impact—a temporary state of vulnerability to enemy attacks.
Thief Skills
Rogues in your party can choose the Thief subclass during leveling up. At level 3, Thief Rogues gain the “Second Story Work” trait, reducing fall damage by half.
Grant Flight Spell
Level 5 sorcerers, warlocks, wizards, druids, and bards in the College of Lore subclass can learn the “Grant Flight” spell. This spell allows characters to fly, providing a gentle descent from higher areas without using a bonus action.
Featherfall Spell
The “Featherfall” spell is invaluable for reducing fall damage. Class Level 1 bards, sorcerers, wizards, and sorcerers can learn it. Scrolls of Featherfall are rare but can be learned by wizards. Mystra’s Grace boots, found in the Arcane Tower in the Underdark, grant the ability to cast Featherfall. The Corvid Token, available from Mattis in Act 3, provides a permanent Featherfall effect.
How to Use Featherfall Spell
Prepare the spell in the Spellbook or wear Mystra’s Grace to gain the “Featherfall” spell. Activate it on the Radial Menu or Hotbar to grant the Featherfall effect, rendering characters and party members immune to fall damage for 10 turns. Use this spell strategically to explore Baldur’s Gate 3, dropping large distances and reaching certain areas early in the game.
