The Sims 4 | How to Age Up Toddlers

Why spend time in the squishy, uncoordinated toddler phase when you can fast-track to a grown-up STAT? Here’s how to age up your toddlers in The Sims 4.

How to Speed Up Toddler Aging in The Sims 4

Kids often wish to reach adulthood faster, a desire the real world can’t fulfill. But in The Sims 4, you have options. Though milestones in the toddler phase are beneficial, aging up is possible through two methods:

  • Give your toddler cake.
  • Wait.
  • Cheat.

How to Use Cake to Age Up Your Toddler in The Sims 4

Yes, baking a cake indeed ages up a toddler. Have an adult Sim bake a cake (flavor doesn’t matter), add candles to it, and ensure the toddler blows them out. Upon doing so, an in-game message confirms the transition to childhood. Happy birthday! Now, time to pursue a lucrative career.

Alternatively, you can wait for natural aging to occur, regardless of birthdays.

How to Age Up Your Toddler Using Cheats in The Sims 4

Using cheats is a bit more complex but achieves the same result—advancing your toddler into childhood.

On PC:

  1. Open the command console with “Ctrl + Shift + C”.
  2. Type “testingcheats true”.
  3. Type “cas.fulleditmode on”.
  4. Press “Escape” (Esc).
  5. Shift-click the character and select “modify in CAS”.
  6. Choose the desired age group.
  7. Confirm and resume gameplay.

On Xbox and PlayStation:

  1. Hold down all four triggers.
  2. Enter “testingcheats true” in the textbox.
  3. Type “cas.fulleditmode on”.
  4. Press “Escape” (Esc).
  5. Shift-click the character and select “modify in CAS”.
  6. Choose the desired age group.
  7. Confirm and resume gameplay.

While not mandatory, toddlers with high Imagination, Movement, Communication, Potty, and Thinking skills tend to fare better in later life stages. Consider leveling up these areas before aging them up. Let them have their cake and eat it too. Or better yet, consult our Cheat Sheet for your teen’s high school years.
