Start on an epic journey in Stardew Valley by unlocking hidden regions and dungeons. As you progress through the game, various areas become accessible, each offering unique resources, challenges, and secrets. Here’s your comprehensive guide to reaching every unlockable region in Stardew Valley.
The Mines
The Mines, Stardew Valley’s first dungeon, opens up five days into the game. You’ll receive a letter stating that the boulder blocking the Mines’ entrance in the Mountains region has vanished. Head to the Mines, and beyond its depths lies the Adventurer’s Guild.
The Railroad
On the night of the second day of the first summer, an earthquake clears the boulder north of Robin’s house, granting access to the Railroad. Trains occasionally pass through, dropping items for quick grabs. Explore the town spa and enjoy the new route connecting Pelican Town.
The Tidal Pools
Spend 300 wood to fix the broken plank at the Beach, connecting both halves. This unlocks the Tidal Pools, where you can find coral, sea urchins, and even encounter the legendary Crimsonfish. Visit the eastern pier to speak with the Old Mariner for unique opportunities.
The Secret Woods
Located in the northwest corner of Cindersap Forest, access the Secret Woods by chopping a hardwood log with a steel axe. This area boasts unique forage items, hardwood stumps, a pond with rare fish, and even a stardrop from the statue of Old Master Cannoli.
The Sewer
Unlock the Sewer by donating 40 items to the museum and receiving the Rusty Key from Gunther. Two entrances, one in Cindersap Forest and the other in south-central Pelican Town, lead to the Sewer region.
The Quarry
Fix the broken bridge east of the Adventurer’s Guild by completing Craft Room Bundles or paying 25,000g to Joja. The Quarry offers respawning mining nodes, trees, and a special Quarry Mine where you can find the Gold Scythe.
Calico Desert
Fix the bus by completing Vault Bundles or paying 40,000g to Joja. Pay 500g to take the bus to Calico Desert, featuring a desert trader, the Oasis shop, and a cave entrance in the northwest.
The Skull Cavern
Reach floor 120 in the Mines and open the chest to obtain the key for the Skull Cavern. This cave in northwest Calico offers unique challenges and rewards, with special prizes for reaching floor 100 in a single day.
The Casino
Complete the quest “The Mysterious Qi” to obtain a Club Card and access the Casino at the back of the Oasis shop. Gamble and win special prizes, including the Statue of Endless Fortune, available for 1,000,000g.
Mutant Bug Lair and Witch’s Swamp
Unlock these areas by completing the Community Center quest and interacting with the Wizard. Find the Dark Talisman in the sewers, allowing access to the Mutant Bug Lair. Use the Dark Talisman to reveal the Witch’s Swamp behind a stone in the Railroad region.
Ginger Island South and East
Fix Willy’s old boat after completing the Community Center quest to access Ginger Island. Initially, only the beach of Ginger Island South and the jungle of Ginger Island East are reachable.
Ginger Island North and the Volcano Dungeon
After visiting Ginger Island East and interacting with Leo, the path to Ginger Island North opens up. Head north to reach the mouth of the Volcano Dungeon, the third major dungeon in Stardew Valley.
Ginger Island West
Repair the farmhouse in Ginger Island West by spending 20 Golden Walnuts. Unlock new areas, including the Ginger Island Farm, the Gourmand Frog, Birdie the castaway, Qi’s Walnut Room, and hidden Golden Walnuts.
Ginger Island Dig Site
Access the Dig Site in Ginger
Island North by paying the parrots 10 Golden Walnuts. Find special mining nodes, use bombs to unblock the cave entrance, and free Professor Snail.
Ginger Island Southeast
Repair the farmhouse and create a beach resort in Ginger Island South by spending 20 Golden Walnuts. Enjoy the Mermaid Beach and Pirate Cove, accessible by the parrots removing debris in the southeast corner.
Qi’s Walnut Room
Once you collect 100 Golden Walnuts, the door to Qi’s Walnut Room opens. Spend your collected walnuts on unlocking new areas and improving the island, and eventually, the door will open, granting you access to Qi’s Walnut Room.
The Summit
After achieving True Perfection and checking the Perfection Tracker in Qi’s Walnut Room, visit the Railroad region. The boulder blocking the staircase is gone, and the stairs lead to the Summit. Experience a unique credits sequence with your romantic partner and explore the Summit.
