Skull and Bones | How to get Cobalt

Cobalt is not the scarcest ore in Skull and Bones, but it may present your first challenge in procurement.

While obtaining earlier metals like Bog Iron, Copper, and Nickel may occur incidentally during your maritime exploits, obtaining Cobalt requires deliberate effort. However, once you focus your search, finding Cobalt becomes relatively straightforward. Here’s a guide on the easiest and quickest methods to locate Cobalt in Skull and Bones.

Where to get Cobalt Ingots in Skull and Bones

In Skull and Bones, if you require Cobalt, you likely need Cobalt Ingots directly, bypassing the refining process from Cobalt. Engaging Trade Routes offers a streamlined approach to acquire Cobalt Ingots.

Trade Routes, though initially daunting, are straightforward to navigate. They delineate paths across the ocean where Merchant Ships transport specific goods. By highlighting any Trade Route on the map, you can discern the items ships along that route carry.

Utilize the Active Item Filter to identify Trade Routes containing Cobalt Ingots. This filter not only reveals resource locations on the map but also highlights Trade Routes with ships transporting specific resources. By tracking Cobalt Ingots in the menu, you can pinpoint Trade Routes where ships carry Cobalt Ingots.

Cobalt Ingots are predominantly found on ships in Trade Routes near Sultani Island, situated west of the Reef Sea in the southwest region of the map. While not every ship guarantees Cobalt Ingots, most do. Utilize your Spyglass to assess a ship’s resources before engaging.

Even if your target is Cobalt specifically, tracking Cobalt Ingots remains optimal. Tracking Ingots reveals Cobalt Ore nodes and Cobalt Ingot Trade Routes on the map, while tracking Cobalt Ore solely displays nodes without Ingots.

Where to find Cobalt in Skull and Bones

If engaging Trade Routes for Cobalt Ingots proves inaccessible due to your ship level, you can gather Cobalt directly from its source. Track Cobalt or Cobalt Ingots in the Knowledge menu to unveil Cobalt Ore nodes and Cobalt Ingot trade routes on the map.

Cobalt Ore nodes span the western portion of the map, starting from Ziwa Kubwa and extending to Lake Buri. You can harvest Cobalt from any Cobalt Ore with any Pickaxe, with higher-tier versions yielding more.

How to locate Cobalt Ore deposits

Locating Cobalt Ore deposits should be intuitive, yet it warrants mention due to potential issues in the beta. While tracking Cobalt, actual deposit locations indicated on the map may be scarce. Despite crew comments suggesting nearby deposits, harvesting options may be absent.

Identify genuine Cobalt Deposits by their distinct blueish-green crystal streaks. If designated locations lack deposits, sail north to the natural stone bridge at the end of the narrow water strip leading to Lake Bwawa. Underneath this archway, ample Cobalt nodes should be present, despite absent map markers.
