Persona 3 Reload | Should You Send Your Allies to Scout?

So, you’ve gathered a full party in Persona 3 Reload, and now the game throws the option at you—should you send a teammate on a scouting mission to pave the way on the next floor? It’s a tempting proposition, but is it a strategic move worth making?

How to Scout the Area in Persona 3 Reload (P3R)

Winning a battle might grant you the chance to send one of your team members as a scout to locate the stairs for the next floor. A willing volunteer steps up, leaves the party temporarily, and embarks on a mission to unveil the path to the stairs. The catch? You won’t see them again until you’ve found those stairs, now revealed thanks to the scout.

This brave team member not only uncovers the way forward but also takes the initiative to open any non-locked chests scattered across the floor. All the discovered treasures are handed over to you once you ascend to the next level. The route to the stairs is less crowded with enemies, though if you take too much time, new spawns can emerge.

This scouting system differs from its counterparts. Unlike other versions where you can split your party whenever, here, the scout system is reminiscent but functions uniquely.

Should You Send A Scout in Persona 3 Reload?

The decision to send a scout boils down to the specific circumstances, but generally, it’s a strategic move. It expedites your exploration, and the scout generously contributes loot obtained from Tartarus. If you happen to possess the Devil Major Arcana during the visit, expect a doubled loot yield.

However, there’s a downside—a temporary loss of a party member. This means facing subsequent fights with reduced strength. Considering that the experience gained remains constant regardless of the party size, there’s no tangible benefit to smaller groups.

So, the strategy is to lean towards sending a scout whenever possible. Yet, exercise caution when facing a Rare Shadow on the current floor or if a locked chest poses a challenge. Unless you’re confident in avoiding unnecessary battles, think twice.

Keep an eye out for Monad doors too. Confronting enemies inside these doors can be challenging with a full party, and going solo is even riskier. Even with powerful Theurgies at your disposal, things can take a turn for the worse if you’re not careful!
