Finally, developer Insomniac Games has revealed the release date for the upcoming major update for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which will introduce the highly anticipated New Game+ mode. Towards the end of 2023, Insomniac announced a delay for Spider-Man 2’s NG+ patch, pushing its release from December to early 2024. Since then, fans have eagerly awaited news about this significant update and its launch date. Despite some ambiguity from Insomniac, we now have clarity.
Today, Insomniac’s official X (or Twitter) account disclosed that the New Game+ patch for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be available in exactly one month, on March 7. Alongside the NG+ feature, the patch is expected to introduce new suits and other surprises. While the specifics of the update remain largely undisclosed, Insomniac has promised to reveal more details closer to its release.
“Our next update is coming March 7. Our title update for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 arrives next month and adds highly requested features like New Game+, new suits, and more!” Insomniac announced on its official X account. “Watch our social media for a complete list of features closer to release.”
The delay in delivering this update likely stems from other developments at Insomniac. Towards the end of 2023, the studio faced a significant cyberattack that exposed future plans and compromised sensitive employee information. Insomniac responded by supporting affected employees and addressing the aftermath of the breach, potentially causing a slowdown in Spider-Man 2’s development.
Looking ahead, the question looming over Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is whether it will receive DLC. While its predecessor received multiple expansions on PS4, Insomniac and PlayStation have yet to confirm if DLC is planned for Spidey 2.
