Where to upgrade your tools and gear in Nightingale
You can upgrade your tools and gear by constructing an Upgrade Station at your Nightingale base. These stations cater to every weapon, tool, and gear piece you possess, and they operate solely on Essence.
The type of Essence required for upgrades varies based on the enhancements you’re applying. For instance, transitioning from Simple to Uncommon upgrades necessitates the use of T1 Essence, readily available while exploring Antiquarian worlds. You can acquire them by gathering resources, completing NPC quests, participating in battles, or defeating enemies that drop them regularly. Personally, I’ve found battling to be the most efficient method of earning T1 Essence.
Once you’ve amassed enough Essence, visit the Upgrade Station and select the item you wish to enhance. The process may take a moment after your selection, and you can only upgrade one item at a time. Once the upgrade is complete, retrieve the item from the crafting station, and it should return to its previous slot on your hot bar. These upgrades result in an increased Gear Score, crucial for unlocking Sites of Power and advancing the main storyline in Nightingale.
While the upgrading process remains consistent at higher levels, advancing the Upgrade Station is necessary before crafting superior equipment. This entails obtaining Augments, which are acquired by progressing through the main storyline and unlocking additional Major Realm cards, providing access to more potent resources. If you encounter difficulties in enhancing your gear or struggle to upgrade your crafting stations, prioritizing the main quests in your Nightingale journal is likely the most productive use of your time.
