How to split stacks in Nightingale

In Nightingale, accessing various items in your inventory is essential during gameplay. Not every item you pick up needs to remain in its original form, and it’s beneficial to break them down into usable stacks.

However, the mechanism for managing stacks can be somewhat confusing for players. Unlike directly managing them in your inventory, you need to navigate to a different location in Nightingale to split them. While initially troublesome, once you grasp the process, it becomes less of a hassle. Here’s how you can split stacks in Nightingale.

How splitting stacks works

The most effective method for splitting stacks is to utilize a separate menu, such as a campfire, where you can divide them while transferring resources to other locations. However, within your backpack, you cannot split stacks directly in Nightingale.

Specific items, typically those usable in the campfire menu, are compatible with this method. For other items, you’ll need to locate or create a chest at your residence. Once you attempt to transfer an item by dragging it to the other side, placing it into the container, you should see the option to split stacks. In multiplayer, you may also collaborate with a friend to manage inventories at camp.

Although splitting item stacks can be frustrating, Nightingale doesn’t offer an alternative method, potentially requiring you to establish a temporary home to organize your inventory. Personally, I’ve found converting surplus basic items like stones or sticks into Essence Dust to be an effective way to manage inventory clutter.

While currently, splitting stacks in Nightingale may pose challenges, one can hope for future updates to streamline inventory management. In the meantime, consider creating a campfire for food, crafting resources, or sticks, and seek out chests for other items. Although it may seem cumbersome initially, as you progress and acquire more advanced items, inventory management should become smoother.
