The Trap Launcher rune emerges as a highly convenient addition in phase two of WoW Classic’s Season of Discovery. Tailored for Hunters, this rune empowers you to cast traps within a range of up to 35 yards, rather than being confined to placing them directly on the ground. Moreover, it divides the cooldowns of your fire and frost traps, enabling you to deploy different types of traps more efficiently, even amidst combat.
Acquiring the Trap Launcher rune entails reaching at least level 30 and embarking on a relatively intricate journey spanning multiple continents, potentially involving encounters with formidable adversaries, depending on certain character creation choices. Here’s a guide on obtaining the Hunter’s Trap Launcher rune in WoW Classic Season of Discovery phase two:
Trap Launcher Hunter Rune Full Guide in WoW SoD Phase Two
Your quest to obtain the Trap Launcher rune commences in Desolace, within a subzone known as the Kodo Graveyard. Seek out the “Extinguished Campfire” at coordinates [47, 54] to initiate the quest “Highway Robbery.” This quest can be turned in to an NPC named Bibbly F’utzbuckle northeast of the Kodo Graveyard. F’utzbuckle will then provide you with a follow-up quest titled “On the Lam,” which you must deliver to Booty Bay in Stranglethorn Vale. The most convenient route from Desolace to Booty Bay involves taking the boat from Ratchet, traversing continents.
Upon arriving in Booty Bay, converse with Tokal, an Orcish woman situated in the Salty Sailor Tavern. Note that despite its status as an inn, the Salty Sailor Tavern is not a safe haven during the new Stranglethorn Vale Blood Moon event, potentially exposing you to PvP mechanics.
Following your interaction with Tokal, proceed to the Arathi Highlands, where you’ll encounter a rowboat positioned along the southern edge of the zone near coordinates [53, 92]. Access the Arathi Highlands via the northern road from the Wetlands, past Dun Modr.
Interacting with the rowboat transports you to the far-eastern side of the Arathi Highlands, where you’ll encounter a farm and an enigmatic NPC named Ilari Duskfeather. If you’re a Night Elf Hunter, Ilari will generously provide you with the key to her chest containing the Trap Launcher rune. However, if you belong to any other Hunter race, you must vanquish her in combat to obtain the key.
Note:
Ilari is a level 40 NPC, meaning that while the minimum level requirement to obtain the rune is 30, defeating her necessitates being closer to the endgame of phase two.
Upon securing Ilari’s key, proceed to the end of the dock, where you’ll find the chest housing the engraving for the Trap Launcher rune.
It’s worth noting that these steps are equally applicable to Rogue players seeking the Poisoned Knife rune.
