It’s official—Rogues acquire Shadowstep in WoW Classic Season of Discovery phase two. This ability is undeniably iconic from modern WoW and adds excitement to WoW Classic. Obtaining the Rune requires completing a moderately lengthy quest chain, but following our guide makes it manageable.
The Rune of Shadowstep, a Belt Rune, grants Shadowstep—a skill teleporting you behind a target and offering a 70 percent movement speed increase for three seconds. This ability is exceptionally useful in both PvP and PvE scenarios, making it a must-have in WoW Classic Season of Discovery.
Where to Obtain the Shadowstep Rune in WoW Classic Season of Discovery
Upon reaching level 30, you receive a letter from the mysterious figure “C,” known from the previous quest for Deadly Brew in phase one, involving infiltration of Shadowfang Keep. This time, the task involves infiltrating Scarlet Monastery.
Retrieve the letter from your mail at level 30 and return to Pyrewood Village outside Shadowfang Keep in Silverpine Forest. The house near the path to Shadowfang Keep contains the dead drop chest. Loot it to receive the quest “The Eye of Bhossca,” instructing you to acquire a disguise from Scarlet Monastery.
Inside the stables behind the Scarlet Monastery entrance lies a chest with your disguise. Obtain it without drawing enemy attention, noting that it’s not wearable in a party and only functions within the Scarlet Monastery instance.
Proceed to the Graveyard wing of Scarlet Monastery (accessible without a key), activate your disguise, and pickpocket a Scarlet Scryer for the Scryer’s Key. Then, transition to the Library wing (also keyless) and navigate to the Athanaeum, the final area where Arcanist Doan resides.
Loot the chest in the Athanaeum before retracing your steps to the Forlorn Cloister in the Graveyard wing. Perform the /sit emote on the middle bench on both sides of the area, then loot another chest inside a mausoleum to the north.
Return to the Library, access the Gallery of Treasures, and loot the final chest for the Eye of Bhossca. Deposit it in the dead drop at Pyrewood Village, check your mail in a major city, and revisit the dead drop to collect the Rune of Shadowstep.
