How To Get the Quetzalcoatl Talon in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

The Item Transmuter proves to be a valuable asset for crafting a variety of potions and gear. Among its creations is the Windmill Gear, a crucial component for a windmill constructed by the fallen Republic. While most ingredients like Iron Ore and Beast Bone are readily available, obtaining the Quetzalcoatl Talon necessary for crafting the Windmill Gear poses a more significant challenge in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

How To Get Windmill Gear in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

To obtain the Quetzalcoatl Talon in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you must defeat the formidable beast situated on the western side of the Grasslands. However, this monstrous creature will only appear after you unlock the Classified Intel: Winged Lacertilian of Yore.

Begin by visiting the four Lifestream Springs in the Grasslands, which you can pinpoint by activating the Intel Towers. Once you’ve gathered enough data, Chadley will mark the location of the new Classified Intel on your map.

The Quetzalcoatl is a Level 22 enemy with a Lightning element. Despite its imposing size, it exhibits agility and can hurl Cloud several meters away with its sweeping attack. Here are its attributes:

  • Weakness: Ice
  • Lesser Resistance: Slow, Poison, Stop, and Morphable Items
  • Greater Resistances: None
  • Absorbed Elements: None
  • Immunities: Proportional Damage and Petrify

Utilize Ice magic or abilities like Ice Impulse and Snow Flurry to pressure the Quetzalcoatl during combat. Exercise caution when the boss takes flight, as it often unleashes a devastating move during this phase.

How To Use

Once you’ve acquired the Quetzalcoatl Talon, navigate to the Item Transmuter menu to craft the Windmill Gear in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. This key item is essential for completing the Where the Wind Blows side quest. Note that this mission won’t be immediately available; you must first complete the Farmer’s Request side quest.

Upon accepting the mission, speak with Broden at Kalm Inn, who will enlist your assistance for his friend. The Windmill Settlement lies northeast of Kalm, with Mildred located inside the abandoned area.

In my Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth playthrough, I already obtained the Quetzalcoatl Talon and crafted the Windmill Gear before speaking with Mildred. Consequently, I promptly handed over the key item and completed the side quest effortlessly. Here are the rewards you can expect:

  • Cleansing Materia
  • Whistlewind Scarf
  • Party EXP
  • Character EXP
  • Relationship Points with Red XIII
