Nightmare Dungeons hold a special place as one of my favorite endgame activities in Diablo 4. They offer challenging enemies, unique modifiers, and most importantly, valuable loot. Here’s how you can acquire Nightmare Sigils to enhance your dungeon experience.
How to Farm Nightmare Sigils
Nightmare Sigils can be obtained as rewards from the Tree of Whispers or as random loot drops from World Tier 3+ dungeons. Once you acquire your initial Sigil, consider using it immediately to benefit from the increased drop rate of Sigils within Nightmare Dungeons.
To unlock Nightmare Sigils, you must first complete the campaign. Following this, you’ll receive a series of post-campaign quests, including one that tasks you with completing the Capstone Dungeon in Kyovashad. This achievement unlocks World Tier 3, a prerequisite for accessing Nightmare Dungeons. Once World Tier 3 is unlocked, adjust your difficulty settings accordingly.
Where to Find Nightmare Sigils:
- Received as a reward from the Tree of Whispers.
- Discovered as loot in World Tier 3 and World Tier 4 dungeons.
- Craftable by an Occultist.
- Available in Nightmare Dungeons themselves.
Upon completing the Capstone Dungeon, visit The Whispering Tree, encountered during Act 4 of the campaign. The tree will enlist your aid, tasking you with collecting Grim Favors. Gather 10 of these favors, and the tree will reward you with a choice of three caches. Regardless of your selection, there’s a chance to receive a Nightmare Sigil. This step is crucial for obtaining your first Nightmare Sigil.
Within Nightmare Dungeons, Nightmare Sigils may drop from random enemies, with stronger foes offering a higher chance of Sigil drops. Additionally, these Sigils can also be acquired upon completing the dungeon.
How to Use Nightmare Sigils
Once you obtain a Nightmare Sigil, navigate to your inventory and access the “Consumables” tab. Here, you’ll find your Nightmare Sigil, which can be activated with a click. This action changes the icon of the selected dungeon on the map, facilitating easier navigation.
Each Nightmare Sigil applies a unique buff or debuff to the associated dungeon. Completing these dungeons allows you to upgrade Glyphs on your Paragon Board.
