How to Farm Living Steel in Diablo 4
To obtain Living Steel, unlock the Tortured Gift of Living Steel Chests using 275 Aberrant Cinders in Helltides. Each chest opened in a Helltide on World Tier 3 or World Tier 4 grants at least one piece of Living Steel. While most chests yield only one piece at a time, prioritizing Living Steel Chests maximizes your yield from Aberrant Cinders.
In Season 3 of Diablo 4, Helltides last for five-minute intervals, allowing ample time to gather Living Steel. Each Living Steel chest is now marked on the Helltide map, simplifying navigation for optimal rewards. Expect to find two Living Steel Chests and two mystery chests in each Helltide zone.
How to Use Living Steel in Diablo 4
Visit the Hall of the Penitent in the Dry Steppes to utilize Living Steel as a summoning item for Grigoire, the Galvanic Saint. While this boss can be summoned in either World Tier 3 or World Tier 4, the latter offers superior rewards. At World Tier 4, the battle requires five Living Steel pieces per summoning. After defeating the Galvanic Saint, return to the Helltides to continue your hunt.
To access a Living Steel chest, which demands 275 Aberrant Cinders, defeat the colossal guardian, Enemy He-Grins-Wide-and-Waits, guarding it. Opening the chest triggers a fight with this imposing foe, who may challenge you to defend his stash or clear the path beforehand.
Expect the colossal boss to possess modifiers like Lightning Enchanted, Electrified Obelisks, and Shock Lance. His resilience, coupled with summoned mobs and electrified obstacles, poses a formidable challenge. However, defeating him rewards you with a piece of Living Steel.
Summoning Grigoire in World Tier 3 requires two Living Steel, while World Tier 4 demands five. Given that Helltides occur every 2 hours and 15 minutes, farming five Living Steel can be time-consuming. Thankfully, each Helltide spawns a chest of Infernal Steel within the affected region, facilitating the farming process.
