How to get and use Pigment in Nightingale

There are several resources you need to locate while playing Nightingale. These are crucial for building up your base and exploring the many realms awaiting you, with Pigment being a critical ingredient.

You won’t be able to start making Pigment until you advance further into Nightingale. It’s an easily overlooked resource, but essential for progressing through the main story and eventually accessing other realms. Here’s what you need to know about acquiring and utilizing Pigment in Nightingale.

Where to find Pigment in Nightingale

In Nightingale, the type of Pigment you can create is called Refined Pigment, which you can produce at the Mortar Station. This Simple Workbench can be unlocked by speaking to the Essence Trader in your world and purchasing it using Essence Dust.

Once you’ve set up the Mortar Station, you can create Refined Pigment at your convenience using various Pigment items. The specific Pigment items you can utilize depend on the resources available in your Nightingale world. For instance, in my desert biome, I could use Predator Meat, Bug Meat, Prey Meat, or Flowers, depending on what was abundant at the time. You’ll need to use at least two of the same resources to produce one Refined Pigment, so you may have to hunt down multiple animals or gather several plants in your world to use at the Mortar Station.

Refined Pigment is crucial for crafting Ink, which is necessary for creating Realm Cards. These cards are essential for exploring other worlds and traversing portals in Nightingale, becoming a major quest component as you advance through your story. Therefore, ensure you have these resources readily available at your camp. I recommend producing more than you need for crafting Alchemical Ink to ensure you have a surplus for later use.

As you progress and unlock additional Workbenches in Nightingale, you can expect to use Refined Pigment for crafting other resources. Each world offers unique items for discovery as you delve deeper into the main storyline of Nightingale.
