Despite its overall success, particularly on PC, Helldivers 2 has faced some bumps in the road since its launch. Players have grappled with crashing problems and issues related to the anti-cheat software, but perhaps the most frustrating issue encountered thus far is Helldivers 2 failing to dole out rewards.
Helldivers 2 not getting rewards error, explained
Similar to the matchmaking woes, the rewards error in Helldivers 2 seems to originate from server-related issues compounded by the high player traffic. Helldivers 2 has exceeded expectations in popularity, surpassing one million sales in under a week, a fact highlighted by Arrowhead CEO and Helldivers 2’s creative director Johan Pilestedt in a Feb. 11 post on X (formerly Twitter). Pilestedt clarified that the error is “due to the high traffic on the servers leading to rewards not being tracked correctly on our servers.” In an effort to address the situation, Arrowhead has implemented three “rapid fixes,” although, as of the present moment, the rewards error has only been partially alleviated.
What to do if you get the rewards error in Helldivers 2
Regrettably, there isn’t a definitive solution for the rewards error at the moment, as per Pilestedt’s statement, which also indicates the need for additional server maintenance. Currently, the only suggestion is to restart Helldivers 2 if you encounter the problem. Moreover, there’s no mention or assurance of players receiving any missed rewards and XP due to the error, a fact that adds to the frustration.
“I know the progression issue is frustrating, especially for newer divers that want to unlock sweet gear. For now, please once again accept our sincere apologies for the issues you’re facing and rest assured, we’re doing our utmost to make it right,” Pilestedt reassured players.
