Last Epoch made its debut in early access on Feb. 21, and the hack-and-slash ARPG encountered some backend issues upon launch, including the infamous error code LE-61 Failed to Matchmake.
With 15 classes and over 120 skills awaiting discovery, Last Epoch throws teams of up to four into dungeons across four different eras. While the experience is typically smoother with friends, solo players can also brave the onslaught of enemies alone.

Resolving error code LE-61 Failed to Matchmake
Upon launching the game, some players may find themselves indefinitely stuck on a connecting screen. Here’s a straightforward step-by-step process to rectify matchmaking in Last Epoch. Previous remedies for this bug include restarting the game and patiently waiting for server stability. Another approach is to flush the DNS cache using the following steps:
- Click the Start button
- Type Command Prompt. Right-click on Command Prompt and select Open as Administrator
- In the command prompt window, type ipconfig /flushdns, then press Enter
- You should receive confirmation that the DNS Resolver Cache was successfully flushed
Alternatively, players can opt to play Last Epoch offline to bypass the hassle of constantly checking server status. However, it’s essential to note that transitioning between online and offline play isn’t seamless. Characters created online cannot be used on offline servers, and vice versa. Therefore, starting the journey offline means foregoing the ability to use that character later on an online server.
