If you’re delving into the side quests in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s Grasslands or deeply engrossed in transmogrification, you might come across the requirement for a Quetzalcoatl talon to craft the Windmill Gear. Where can you find one?
The Quetzalcoatl won’t make an appearance until you scan the Wetlands Lifespring, identified as Expedition Info 2. Triggering the appearance of the Lifespring on the map involves activating the Swamplands Tower (Activation Intel 3), located south of the Grasslands and east of the Abandoned Dock waypoint. Alternatively, head southeast from the Abandoned Dock waypoint, and you’ll eventually spot the bird leading you to the Lifespring.
Once you’ve scanned the Wetlands Lifespring, a marker will emerge directly south from the highway to Midgar in the Northern Wastelands. However, even if you venture to this location early, the Quetzalcoatl won’t appear until after you’ve scanned the Wetlands Lifespring.
Upon reaching the designated area marker, hold down the triangle button to summon the Quetzalcoatl.
Obtaining a Quetzalcoatl talon
The Quetzalcoatl is susceptible to ice magic. Exploiting its elemental weakness is enough to pressure it, so ensuring all your party members are equipped with ice materia can simplify the battle. Consistently targeting its weakness should swiftly stagger it, making it easier to defeat. For an additional advantage, utilize the Shiva materia.
Victory rewards you with the Quetzalcoatl Talon. Its sole purpose is in crafting the Windmill Gear, which is then utilized in Broden’s quest in Kalm. Beyond that, it’s another task checked off the Intel List for the Grasslands.
