Level 8-3 marks the third stage of World 8, Twilight City, in the 2024 version of Mario vs Donkey Kong for Nintendo Switch. This level corresponds to level 6-3 in the original 2004 Game Boy Advance version, and this guide aims to simplify its completion.
Similar to all standard levels in Mario vs Donkey Kong, 8-3 comprises a door segment, where acquiring a key and unlocking a door is necessary, and a Mario toy segment, where reaching a Mario Toy is the objective. To achieve a perfect rating, collecting three gifts along the path is also essential.
This walkthrough provides instructions for attaining a perfect rating in completing the level, with particular emphasis on navigating the challenging section of the door segment, where many players typically encounter difficulty.
Mario vs Donkey Kong level 8-3
Door stage
Initiate by pressing the blue button, then proceed rightward and jump onto the yellow robot’s head. From there, ascend to acquire the red gift, and continue underneath the door to the far right. Utilize the spring to bounce upward onto the chains, then grasp the chain hanging beneath the yellow robot patrolling on the right side. Traverse across to the chain in the middle, positioned above the spikes, and secure that chain.
You may have realized by now that entering “red mode” is necessary to reach the key, but doing so impedes your ability to reach the left yellow robot. However, a solution to this predicament is forthcoming. When the left robot approaches, seize its chain without releasing the middle chain. Do so by briefly tapping left instead of holding left, halting the robot’s movement. Maintain this grip until the other two robots reach the far left, then tap left again to descend back to the buttons.
Wait until the two robots on the right align with the left side of the red blocks, then activate the red button. This action should also ensnare the left-side robot within its red blocks. Now, ascend to the top again, navigating between platforms and chains to reach the key. Once obtained, descend and employ the spring once more to reach the door.
Mario Toy stage
Proceed rightward and wait for the spark to pass before ascending and seizing the cable. Traverse halfway across, then drop to avoid the spark, promptly reascending to evade the laser. Utilize the subsequent cable to swing upward to the upper platform, then wait for the yellow laser’s cycle before leaping into the gap beneath the spikes. Progress halfway across the gap, then crouch (press down) to evade the yellow laser before continuing leftward and emerging from the gap’s opposite side.
Employ the spring to ascend to the next platform, then cautiously traverse the conveyor belt to the right, evading lasers along the way. Acquire the yellow gift and activate the white button to reverse the conveyor belt. Subsequently, press the blue button and cautiously retrace your steps across the conveyor belt. Swing from cable to cable to access the blue gift, then leap to the right to obtain the Mario Toy.
