How to beat the Orowyrm in Steel Path in Warframe

The Orowyrm presents one of Warframe’s most intricate boss fights, and tackling the Steel Path version adds an extra layer of challenge. For those aiming to complete the Elite Nightwave challenge associated with this encounter, here’s a comprehensive guide to help you prepare and succeed.

How to prepare for the Steel Path Orowyrm fight

To enhance your chances in the Orowyrm battle, it’s advisable to engage in The Duviri Experience beforehand. Accumulating Decrees here can significantly bolster your abilities for the final showdown. Follow these steps to optimize your preparation:

Pick a tanky frame at the start

Given the elevated enemy levels and increased damage output in the Steel Path, selecting a frame with high durability is paramount. With only four lives at your disposal, survivability becomes crucial, especially during the climactic stages of the fight.

Pick hitscan weapons with decent critical stats

Opting for hitscan weapons with reliable critical stats is advantageous, considering the Orowyrm’s agile movements. This choice proves beneficial not only during the initial encounter but also throughout subsequent phases of the battle. Patience may be required if your current arsenal lacks suitable options, as waiting for the next rotation could yield more favorable choices.

Earn Decrees that boost critical stats (not melee critical)

Even if your selected weapon lacks impressive critical stats initially, accumulating Decrees can compensate for this deficiency. Prioritize acquiring Decrees that augment critical attributes, such as Critical Roll or Critical Frost, as they significantly enhance your damage output. However, exercise caution as accumulating more Decrees escalates enemy levels, potentially impeding progression to subsequent phases.

Now, proceed with your session until reaching the final phase of The Duviri Experience, indicated by the task of retrieving the Orvius.

How to beat the Steel Path Orowyrm in Warframe

Upon accumulating sufficient Decrees, proceed with your session until reaching the final phase of The Duviri Experience. When tasked with obtaining the Orvius, the time for the Orowyrm encounter has arrived.

The chase phase

Mount your Kaithe and take to the skies to pursue the Orowyrm. During the pursuit, the wyrm will launch large projectiles towards you. Use your Orvius to intercept and destroy these projectiles, then pass through the rings that form upon their destruction to gain a speed boost.

Approach the highlighted circular portions on the wyrm’s body and latch onto them by shooting. Traverse the beast’s body, reaching all three rings while neutralizing the electrical emissions by interacting with the “Open Pathos Valve” option. Repeat this process for all three rings before advancing to the wyrm’s head to seize control.

During this phase, utilize the wyrm’s abilities to destroy the objectives marked on your HUD. It’s crucial to be within 200 meters of each objective to inflict damage effectively. Upon completion, head towards the portal whence the wyrm emerged.

The fight

Inside the arena, commence damaging the Orowyrm.

In the initial phase, focus on destroying the activated rings on the wyrm’s body. If your weapons prove insufficient, you’ll receive an Archgun for added firepower.

During the second phase, your Kaithe will appear, prompting you to mount it. As the arena floor is engulfed in blue flames, maintain airborne status and hunt down six Wyrmlings along the outer edges. Eliminate them to generate boost rings, or employ a strategy of waiting for them to approach and shoot them on approach.

Return to the arena center after dispatching the Wyrmlings and resume targeting the regenerated rings on the Orowyrm’s body. Expect additional enemy spawns, including more Wyrmlings. Clear the area of threats before transitioning to the final phase, which mirrors the initial phase but with heightened difficulty.
