Battling Lagon in Last Epoch requires a strategic approach. Many of his attacks inflict devastating damage, some capable of eliminating you in a single strike. Thus, thorough preparation is essential before engaging in the encounter.
What to look out for in the Lagon Last Epoch fight
The Lagon fight unfolds in two phases. After completing the second phase, you’ll return to the first phase until Lagon’s health is depleted. Phase one presents various attacks to beware of, while phase two is relatively simpler.
Lagon Phase One
In phase one, upon entering the arena, you’ll notice two tentacles emerging on either side. These serve as your means of damaging Lagon, but he fiercely defends them. Lagon employs four main attacks:
- Ground Slam
- Lightning Cone
- Moon Blast
- Sweeping Beam
Ground Slam and Moon Blast can be evaded by dodging when damage circles appear. However, Lightning Cone is trickier to avoid. Watch for Lagon lifting his eye before unleashing this attack; though it’s his weakest move, missing it isn’t catastrophic.
Sweeping Beam, on the other hand, is lethal. This lightning beam sweeps across half the arena and can be fatal or severely damaging if caught within. However, it’s slow-moving, with ample telegraphing; Lagon tilts his head to one side, closes his eye, then reopens it before executing the move.

Phase two transports you to a larger arena, where you’ll face a barrage of enemies. These are the adversaries encountered en route to Lagon, and your objective here is to survive while eliminating tentacles. While dispatching all enemies yields valuable XP and enhances safety, focusing solely on tentacles is sufficient for progression.

Upon entering the arena, swiftly select a side and begin damaging the nearest tentacle. As you attack, strive to evade incoming abilities. Ranged players should stay close to the middle of the arena, while melee combatants should position themselves toward the sides.
Some melee builds may possess tanking and leeching capabilities, allowing sustained damage on the tentacle throughout Lagon’s assaults. However, every player must avoid Sweeping Beam, as it poses a significant threat.
Evading this attack depends on its direction. If the beam approaches the opposite tentacle, switch sides and outpace it to avoid damage. Alternatively, if it nears the map’s edge, retreat to the far bottom corner of that side, beyond the attack’s reach. Utilizing this corner provides swift evasion and proves essential multiple times during the battle.
