FFXIV | How to join the Xbox open beta

The time is approaching for FFXIV to commence testing for its Xbox version release. Starting February 21, the free trial will be available for download on Xbox. Here’s how to participate in the Xbox open beta for FFXIV.

FFXIV Xbox series X|S open beta prerequisites and instructions

To begin with, it’s essential to note that you cannot join the Xbox open beta using an existing Square Enix account. Your Square Enix account must be linked to your Microsoft account to participate in the open beta. However, if there’s an existing registration for XIV, participation won’t be permitted. This open beta appears to be aimed at new players without prior experience with the game. It’s important to note that you don’t need Game Pass to access the free trial. Only the full, non-beta version will require Game Pass.

So, if you’re new to FFXIV, now is your opportunity. Before proceeding, ensure that your Xbox has the following settings enabled (Settings > Account > Privacy and online safety > Xbox privacy > View details and customize):

  • Joining multiplayer games
  • Participating in cross-network play
  • Allowing others to communicate via voice, text, and invites
  • Communicating outside of Xbox using voice and text
  • Viewing and uploading community creations (Navigate to View details and customize > Game content)

Once these settings are enabled, simply head to the Microsoft Store and search for Final Fantasy XIV. The free trial can be downloaded from the product page in the Microsoft Store. After installation, launch the game and follow the instructions provided upon opening.

During the open beta, you’ll have access to everything available in the free trial version on PC or PS4/5, with the exception of purchases from the game’s online store. The open beta does not support any purchases. Now that you know how to join the Xbox open beta for FFXIV, it’s time to experience the game on Xbox!
