Destiny 2 | How to open and where to find Ascendant Chests

Ascendant Chests in Destiny 2 have often been overlooked since their introduction in Forsaken. Although these secret objectives rotate weekly and don’t usually offer substantial rewards, Season of the Wish has given players a reason to seek them out.

Similar to other destinations, the Dreaming City requires revitalization to attract players back. Season of the Wish, and consequently the Riven’s Wishes quests, address this need.

These quests challenge players to undertake obscure objectives hidden within the Dreaming City’s secrets. For instance, the second Wish quest involves locating Ascendant Chests. Here’s how you can access and locate them in Destiny 2.

How to open Ascendant Chests for the Riven’s Wishes II quest

Opening Ascendant Chests necessitates using a Tincture of Queensfoil to acquire the Ascendance buff. This buff enables you to perceive what would otherwise be hidden, including Ascendant Chests and entrances to the Ascendant Plane.

Ascendant Chests may not always be immediately visible. Sometimes, you’ll notice a pathway materializing, indicated by a message indicating weakened seams between reality. This signifies the presence of a nearby secret, typically an Ascendant Chest or the beginning of the path to one.

Ascendant Chests are character-specific, allowing you to collect multiple chests per week by switching characters. Each week offers 10 different locations, totaling 30, which vary based on the Curse strength. While the second Wish quest initially required players to find seven chests, Bungie later reduced the requirement to just three with Update 7.3.4.2, making the task much simpler.

Destiny 2 Ascendant Chest locations

While we won’t list all Ascendant Chest locations here, we’ll provide enough to complete the second Wish quest. If you still need to fulfill activities in the Dreaming City or participate in the Rift Generator public event, this presents an opportunity to tie up loose ends.
