Despite its unexpected success for Sony and Arrowhead Game Studios, Helldivers 2 encounters some unfortunate challenges common to online-based games. Players worldwide have reported various issues, with server connectivity being a primary concern. Among these issues is the “Login Limit Reached” problem, which obstructs players from progressing beyond the main menu. But is there a solution to this error?
Is It Possible To Bypass the “Login Limit Reached” Error?
The “Login Limit Reached” error occurs when the game server reaches full capacity. Unfortunately, there is no immediate fix for this issue in Helldivers 2. Players must wait until existing players log off, freeing up slots. However, Arrowhead Game Studios has been diligently working to increase concurrent player capacities since the game’s tumultuous launch.
On February 12, 2024, the team raised the cap for simultaneous active players from 250,000 to 360,000. Subsequently, on February 17, the cap was further raised to 450,000 to ensure server stability.
Although, despite these efforts, the Helldivers 2 community suggests various methods to bypass the “Login Limit Reached” issue. I personally succeeded in using one such method to join a friend’s game when facing login difficulties.
Restart Your Game and Console
Restarting your game and console allows for a reconnection to the Helldivers 2 server. During this time, some players may log off, potentially opening up slots for rejoining the server. Similarly, watching the intro video triggers a reconnection attempt in the background.
Join An Already Online Friend
When facing connection issues, attempting to join a game manually via Steam’s Friend List proved successful for me on PC. Simply navigate to your Friend List, click the down arrow next to an online friend’s name, and select “Join Game.”
If you lack friends to play with, consider posting an LFG (Looking for Group) request on Helldivers’s official Subreddit or Discord server. From there, ask your newfound teammates to share their Friend Code from the Social menu.
Turn Off the Cross-Play Functionality
Some PS5 players have suggested that disabling Cross-Play functionality between PlayStation and PC in Helldivers 2’s settings could resolve the “Login Limit Reached” error. These settings are accessible in the Gameplay menu under Options.
Turn Off IPv6 and VPN
Using a VPN or proxy server can sometimes lead to IP address conflicts, hindering connectivity to Helldivers 2’s server. Additionally, IPv6 settings in the Network Adapter might cause connection issues. Try disabling either or both to improve gaming stability.
