Baldur’s Gate 3 | Where to find Halsin

Halsin in Baldur’s Gate 3 initially remains elusive but can join your party after completing a specific quest. However, his intentions may vary based on your decisions. Here’s how to locate Halsin in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Freeing Halsin from the Goblin Camp prison

To rescue Halsin, you must first liberate him from the goblins’ captivity. He’s imprisoned in cells near the Goblin Camp west of the Emerald Grove. Enter the camp and head to the top right area, where you’ll find a doorway leading to the Worg Pens. Inside, a green-lit Cave Bear represents Halsin, who has transformed into this animal as a Druid. Clear the area of goblins to free him. Halsin will join you during the battle, breaking free from the bars in a cutscene. Ensure his survival during the fight, as his demise is irreversible, similar to mechanics seen in Fire Emblem games.

After conversing with Halsin, you can enlist his help against three boss goblins. Once this ordeal concludes, he becomes a permanent member of your party. And yes, he’s the bear involved in the romantic scene you may have heard about.

How to meet Halsin in Baldur’s Gate 3

Alternatively, you can encounter Halsin without visiting the prison. He introduces himself as the hero of the Druids after you defeat the three goblins at their camp. Avoid confronting the goblins at the camp afterward, as engaging them mistakenly requires loading a previous save. Interestingly, Halsin manages to save himself in this scenario! This encounter follows attempts to resolve tensions between Druids and Tieflings regarding the evacuation amidst goblin threats.

Upon returning to Emerald Grove, Halsin surprisingly accepts your actions, despite you eliminating members of his own kin. He expresses regret for not preventing the conflict and expresses a desire to join your party. After celebrating with the townsfolk, he appears in your camp the next day and guides you to the source of the infection: Moonrise Towers.

What happens if Halsin dies?

Much of Baldur’s Gate 3, including Halsin’s involvement, is optional. Therefore, if the druid perishes, it alters the landscape but doesn’t halt progression. However, consequences ripple through the grove and Shadow-Cursed Lands. If Halsin meets his demise, whether accidentally or deliberately, options include speaking with his spirit via Speak with Dead or looting his belongings, which contain valuable items and tie into ongoing quests in Baldur’s Gate 3 Act 1. Choose wisely, considering the broader implications of your decisions.
