Dynamic Difficulty Mode in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth explained

After four years, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has finally arrived. This second installment in the FF7 Remake series introduces a plethora of new features and content, including the innovative Dynamic Difficulty mode. This mode, a novel addition not present in the original Remake or any previous Final Fantasy titles, brings a fresh dynamic to the gameplay experience. Here’s a comprehensive overview of the FF7 Rebirth Dynamic Difficulty Mode.

Understanding Dynamic Difficulty

In FF7 Rebirth, Dynamic Difficulty mode implements Level Scaling for the encountered enemies. If you’ve delved into similar games or MMORPGs featuring Level Scaling, you’ll grasp its mechanics swiftly. Essentially, regardless of your location or opponent, the enemies you face will adjust to match your level. Consequently, you cannot simply grind levels to breeze through encounters or expect early-game content to pose minimal challenge.

The in-game description succinctly captures the essence: “Enemy difficulty adjusts automatically based on your skill level. Select this if you love the thrill of the fight.”

For instance, in Normal Mode, encountering a Level 20 boss might prove challenging if you’re also at Level 20. By undertaking additional content to reach Level 25, you could return and defeat the boss more easily. However, with Dynamic Difficulty enabled, upon your return at Level 25, the boss will have also reached Level 25, maintaining the challenge. This necessitates a more strategic approach, emphasizing evasion and counterattacking over sheer power.

It’s worth noting that Dynamic Difficulty in FF7 Rebirth does not affect trophy acquisition.
