How To Find the Rebreather in Sons of the Forest

In the game, you may have encountered water-filled caves that you couldn’t explore due to lacking the necessary equipment. Now, you’re likely eager to find the rebreather’s location in Sons of the Forest. This item ranks among the game’s most crucial tools, alongside essentials like the shovel, axe, or pickaxe. Moreover, progression in the main story mission hinges on obtaining it, and without the rebreather, you risk losing other valuable items scattered across the island’s underwater locales.

Sons of the Forest: Rebreather Location and How to Get It

Interestingly, the rebreather’s location is near the site of your helicopter crash, where your journey in Sons of the Forest begins. Search for a cave on the northwest beach, close to the forested shore. However, before venturing to find the rebreather, ensure you have the axe and a light source like a torch or flashlight. Once prepared, follow these steps:

  • Approach the cave entrance and use the axe to break through the wood barricade.
  • Enter the cave, keeping your torch or flashlight handy as it’s dimly lit. You’ll discover various items inside.
  • Proceed along the cave path, encountering enemies along the way. You can choose to evade them.
  • Ascend a minor climb amidst more adversaries. Ignore this and continue downwards to the left. Look for a trail of life jackets leading down the path.
  • Arrive at a chamber filled with stalactites and stalagmites. Aim for the middle path, leading to a cluster of stalagmites in the center.
  • Head towards the right, where a small entrance appears on the left side. Enter it.
  • Proceed along the passage until reaching a lake, encountering more items and corpses along the way.
  • Follow the right side of the cave. The rebreather awaits at a dead end on the left side, near the lake’s edge.

Remember to replace the air tank when your air supply runs out. With the rebreather, you can access other essential items in Sons of the Forest, such as the shovel, mining pickaxe, or golden armor. Additionally, it enables you to complete certain main quests leading to different game endings.
