How to get Glass in Nightingale

In Nightingale, Glass becomes essential as you progress, despite its initial absence from discussions until late in your first Realm.

Initially, obtaining Glass might seem challenging, as it lacks a readily available natural resource node like trees or stones. However, acquiring Glass isn’t overly complex; it involves a few steps that may seem bewildering for newcomers. Here’s how to craft Glass in Nightingale.

Where to get Glass in Nightingale

The crucial aspect here is the term “craft.” In Nightingale, Glass is a product of Refinement, meaning it can’t be directly harvested from sources like Stone Blocks or Wood Bundles. To obtain Glass, you first need Raw Gems.

Raw Gems can be sourced from various Ore Nodes scattered throughout the Realms. Due to Nightingale’s procedural generation, there’s no fixed location for mining Gems early on. However, certain truths remain consistent.

To acquire Raw Gems, you’ll require a Simple Pickaxe, which is typically crafted during the game’s tutorial. Equipped with this tool, striking an Ore Node yields Raw Gems, which can later be refined into Glass.

Quartz served as my primary source for Raw Gems, likely consistent across most Realms despite procedural variations. I found Quartz predominantly at mountain peaks and stony areas. Look for elevated crags for a good chance of finding Quartz.

How to craft Glass in Nightingale

Once you possess Raw Gems, whether Quartz or other types, you can refine them into Glass using a Simple Smelter. The recipe for a Simple Smelter is obtainable from an Essence Trader after unlocking the Antiquarian Realm Card:

  • Four Stone Blocks
  • Six Rocks

Prioritize crafting a Simple Smelter post the Antiquarian Card, as it doesn’t require Lumber. Once you have a Smelter, craft Glass using two Raw Gems per one Glass unit.

Ensure you add Fuel to your Smelter; any Fibre or Sticks will suffice. Glass serves various purposes, notably in crafting Ink, vital for creating new Realm Cards.
