Nightingale | How to recruit Survivor NPCs

In Nightingale, your journey doesn’t have to be a solitary one. Besides the option to team up with friends in your game, you can enhance your party by including Survivors, which are non-player characters (NPCs).

You’ll encounter these characters during your adventures, but they won’t join your ranks without a little persuasion. They’ll ask you to complete a specific task for them first. This means dedicating some time to fulfill their requests. Below is a guide on recruiting Survivor NPCs in Nightingale.

How to get Survivors in Nightingale

As you traverse the realms of Nightingale, you’ll come across various Survivors by name. Engaging in conversation with these individuals can offer deeper insights into the game’s lore, and if they propose a quest, fulfilling their request could persuade them to join your side. For my initial Survivor, the task was to gather basic resources like sticks, fiber, and pebbles to construct a bed and a cooking area. Fortunately, they didn’t ask for anything as specific as Slingbow Ammo.

The nature of these quests can differ from one NPC to another. My first quest was pretty simple. Upon its completion, I received a modest reward (Essence Dust in this instance) and then had the option to officially recruit them.

Once a Survivor is on your team, you gain control over their inventory and their equipment. My Survivor, named Georgia, possessed level 16 gear and a basic Mining Pick when I found her at the initial Site of Power. I had the flexibility to exchange her gear with items from my inventory or allocate items for her to carry as we explored Nightingale together. For those familiar with Skyrim, these companions function in a somewhat similar manner, though it remains unclear if marriage is an option.

Should you decide to part ways with a Survivor, a conversation with them reveals an option to dismiss them from your party. Upon dismissal, they cease to follow you, but rehiring them is hassle-free, requiring no additional quests. This option is convenient whether you’re adventuring solo or need an extra hand while in a smaller multiplayer group.
