What are the Dragonflight Leggings in World of Warcraft Classic?

The Dragonflight Leggings stand out as perhaps the most unconventional addition to your character’s gear in WoW Classic, regardless of your chosen class. These cloth pants serve as a reward from the quest “Set Them Ablaze!,” a level 40 elite quest located in the Searing Gorge. Achieving this reward demands considerable effort and coordination, particularly during phase two of the Season of Discovery. But the question remains: Are they worth pursuing, especially considering that one of the possible rewards is a pair of pants boasting what may be the most unusual combination of stats on any armor item in the game?

Are the Dragonflight Leggings even good?

The Dragonflight Leggings, categorized as uncommon (green) quality pants within the cloth armor class, technically allow anyone to equip them. The listed stats for the Dragonflight Leggings are as follows:

  • +6 Strength
  • +13 Agility
  • +14 Spirit

There is no overlap between the cloth armor class and the primary stats of Strength or Agility. Finding a suitable class to maximize the benefits of these stats proves challenging. Opting for these leggings while playing as a Warrior or Hunter entails sacrificing the typically more effective armor classes of leather, mail, or plate.

The sole intersection between a stat and an armor class on the Dragonflight Leggings lies with the Spirit stat. This stat is typically favored by cloth-wearing spellcasters for its contribution to mana regeneration. However, all cloth wearers prioritize Intellect as their primary stat. Thus, the main reason for choosing these pants as a cloth-wearing class would be for the +14 Spirit. Nevertheless, Spirit is generally considered a secondary stat, and other items within the same level bracket provide an ample supply of it (alongside Intellect).

Which classes should take the Dragonflight Leggings as a quest reward?

The class that could potentially derive the most benefit from this item is the Druid, given the slight overlap between the Strength/Agility used while Shapeshifting and the Spirit required for mana regeneration. However, Druids primarily wear leather armor, so equipping these pants would involve sacrificing in that regard. Hunters might also find some utility in the Agility and Spirit provided here, but since Hunters can train in mail armor at level 40, utilizing a cloth piece feels like a significant downgrade compared to many other options available.

If you complete the “Set Them Ablaze!” quest in either WoW Classic or WoW Season of Discovery, we strongly suggest opting for either the Drakefire Headguard or the Axe of the Ebon Drake, as they offer slightly more versatility as rewards. The inclusion of these pants in the game’s item pool remains somewhat perplexing. However, if you manage to integrate them effectively into your character’s build, especially during the gear-abundant phase two of Season of Discovery, then more power to you.
