Can Origin Forme Dialga and Origin Forme Palkia be Shiny in Pokémon Go?

When hunting for Shiny Pokémon in Pokémon Go, encountering a Legendary is always an exciting prospect. During the Pokémon Go Tour: Sinnoh event, you might have the chance to catch two new Legends: Origin Forme Dialga and Origin Forme Palkia.

These two legendary Pokémon make their debut in five-star raids, starting with the in-person Pokémon Go Tour: Sinnoh event in Los Angeles and later appearing globally. While legendary Pokémon in raids typically don’t have Shiny variants upon their debut, there’s been speculation about whether Origin Forme Dialga and Origin Forme Palkia might break that pattern.

Does Origin Forme Dialga and Origin Forme Palkia have a Shiny version in Pokémon Go?

According to statements from Niantic, there’s a possibility that Origin Forme Dialga and Origin Forme Palkia could appear as Shiny versions in Pokémon Go. If you encounter them during the Pokémon Go Tour: Sinnoh event and manage to defeat them in five-star raids, there’s a chance you might encounter a Shiny variant while attempting to catch them.

These legendary Pokémon are expected to feature in five-star raids starting in Los Angeles on Feb. 18 to 19 and subsequently globally on Feb. 24 to 25, running from 10 am to 6 pm in your local time zone. Depending on whether you selected the Diamond or Pearl ticket leading up to the event, you may encounter Origin Forme Dialga or Origin Forme Palkia more frequently. However, the choice of which to pursue is entirely yours.

Catching a Shiny version of these Pokémon will be challenging, especially considering their limited availability. They only appear in five-star raids during specific times throughout the Pokémon Go Tour: Sinnoh event, coinciding with the Ancient Grove and Geothermal Lagoon habitats. These habitats have set spawn times, with the Pokémon spawning in five-star raids for four hours during each eight-hour event window. To maximize your chances, it’s advisable to focus on one Pokémon at a time, adding it to your collection before moving on to the next if time permits.

Looking ahead, it’s expected that the Shiny versions of Origin Forme Dialga and Origin Forme Palkia will continue to appear in future Pokémon Go events. While the exact timing of these events remains unknown, Niantic typically doesn’t retract Shiny variants once released. Best of luck to all players in their quest to obtain the Shiny versions of these legendary Pokémon—it won’t be an easy task!
