Is Diablo 4 Available on Game Pass?

Amidst all the commotion surrounding the Microsoft + Activision Blizzard saga, there were high hopes regarding the fate of Blizzard titles post-merger. One of the speculated outcomes was the possibility of Diablo 4 becoming accessible through Game Pass, a notion previously deemed improbable.

Will Diablo IV be Available on Game Pass?

Diablo IV is set to join Game Pass on March 28, 2024. After months of speculation, the game’s inclusion in the Microsoft gaming service was confirmed, following the successful merger of the companies in October 2023.

The announcement was first made during the Xbox Podcast and later corroborated on social media platforms. Featuring Crossplay functionality, players can immediately team up with veterans across different platforms and embark on their journey in Sanctuary. A new Season is scheduled to commence roughly two weeks later, allowing newcomers to join the fray with optimal timing.

An earlier statement by Rod Fergusson, overseeing the Diablo franchise, had indicated no plans to bring the title to Game Pass, but that was nearly a year prior to the official announcement. The landscape has since evolved, suggesting that Blizzard has adapted its strategies.

However, this contradicts an older blog post by Microsoft in September 2022, outlining intentions to incorporate select Activision Blizzard games into Game Pass. The post specifically mentioned titles like Overwatch, Diablo, and Call of Duty, aiming to foster their respective gaming communities.

While these other games have yet to materialize in Game Pass, it’s conceivable that Blizzard may gradually introduce more titles over time, with Diablo serving as the initial litmus test for this new approach.
