Skull and Bones | How to Get Steel Ingots

As you sail the vast seas in pursuit of renown and riches, you’ll encounter formidable enemy ships that outmatch your own. Strengthening your vessel with better armor and larger guns is crucial. Here’s how to acquire Steel Ingots in Skull and Bones to outfit your ship effectively!

Where to Get Steel Ingots in Skull and Bones

Obtaining Steel Ingots in Skull and Bones involves either mining Pure Iron or purchasing the ingots from traders. To mine Pure Iron, you’ll need to navigate to the perilous waters of the East Indies, specifically the archipelago at Nilam Sea, where several iron nodes are located. Note that mining Pure Iron requires a Pickaxe II.

Once you’ve gathered some Pure Iron, head to a Refinery, such as the one along the coast from Nilam Sea, where you can smelt Steel Ingots using Pure Iron at a cost of 10 silver per ingot.

However, the journey across the open ocean to reach this destination is fraught with peril. Endless storms and the constant threat of rogue waves make it treacherous, with numerous Compaigne and Dutch East India Company vessels, mostly around levels 8-10, posing additional risks.

Alternatively, you can procure Steel Ingots from merchants, particularly in the East Indies, or salvage them from wrecked ships. While smaller vessels may carry some Steel Ingots, targeting larger, more formidable ships offers better chances of success.

While traversing the ocean, consider stopping at small islands along the way to gather resources for Bronze Ingots. Both Steel and Bronze Ingots are essential for upgrading your ship and weapons for late-game combat.
