Helldivers 2 | How to find and complete Secondary Objectives

As you progress into higher difficulties in Helldivers 2, you’ll encounter Secondary Objectives to locate and complete. These optional tasks grant additional experience points and Requisition Slips, making them worthwhile pursuits. Here’s how to locate them.

A reliable method to identify missions containing Secondary Objectives is by spotting light blue icons on the maps before starting. From my observations, Secondary Objectives typically emerge at Medium difficulty levels and beyond. Look for blue icons resembling crashed pods with smoke or beakers, denoting Secondary Objectives. These icons are usually visible on the map before the mission commences.

However, not all Secondary Objectives are pre-marked on the map. While you may have one before the mission starts, allowing direct tracking from the mini-map once in-game, it’s still beneficial to thoroughly explore the area.

Additional objectives may be hidden, so thorough exploration is rewarded. In a recent mission, for instance, a Secondary Objective tasked me with destroying a research station. Yet, just around the corner, I encountered a Terminid Spore Spewer, providing further opportunities. Although rushing through Main Objectives can yield quick rewards, mission timers are often lengthy. So, if you have 40 minutes, make the most of them.

When in proximity to a Secondary Objective, the relevant icon appears on the compass near the top of the screen, guiding you towards it. The game provides instructions on completing the objective once you’re close enough.

What kind of Secondary Objectives are there?

Secondary Mission types vary, ranging from destruction objectives where orbital Stratagems can be utilized, to unique objectives like uploading escape pod data or powering on radar stations to reveal map details.

Regardless of the Secondary Objectives you encounter, completing them rewards you with additional experience points and Requisition Slips, making it advantageous to pursue them.
