To unlock these exclusive event pets and items, you’ll need Yakgwa, a novel currency introduced alongside the Lunar New Year-themed minigame, Red Lantern, Green Lantern. Read on for a concise guide on how to acquire Yakgwa.
How to earn Yakgwa in Adopt Me
Yakgwa can be obtained in three ways: purchasing it with Robux, locating and releasing kites around Adoption Island, and engaging in the Red Lantern, Green Lantern minigame.
How to buy Yakgwa in Adopt Me!
To procure Yakgwa, navigate to the Lunar New Year area via the portal provided. Then, either select the Yakgwa icon at the top of your screen or approach the spinning Yakgwa coin near the entrance. Interacting with either option will grant access to the Yakgwa Store, where the Yakgwa to Robux equivalents are as follows:
- 300 Lanterns = 7 Robux
- 1,750 Lanterns = 40 Robux
- 4,400 Lanterns = 100 Robux
- 11,500 Lanterns = 250 Robux
- 31,250 Lanterns = 625 Robux
- 70,000 Lanterns = 1,250 Robux
How to play the Red Lantern, Green Lantern minigame in Adopt Me!
The Red Lantern, Green Lantern minigame, inspired by the Red Light, Green Light game popularized by the Netflix show Squid Games, pits players against each other in a competitive, player vs. player challenge. Your task is to navigate an arena guarded by sentient statues, collecting bowls of Rice Cake Soup without alerting the statues. Movement is permitted when the statues face away from you; freeze immediately when they turn toward you. Failure to freeze promptly results in teleportation back to the arena’s start, forfeiting any collected bowls. Upon amassing a maximum of three bowls, exchange them for points in the Safe Area. Your Yakgwa reward at the minigame’s conclusion is determined by the number of delivered bowls.
How to find and release kites in Adopt Me!
Throughout Adoption Island are six kite boxes that can be constructed and released for a small quantity of Yakgwa. Each released kite earns you 150 Yakgwa, and they can be released once per in-game day cycle. Below are the kite locations:
- Kite #1: Next to the wooden bridge leading to the island’s center
- Kite #2: Next to the red bridge leading to the island’s center
- Kite #3: Next to the dock
- Kite #4: Next to the Pizza Place
- Kite #5: Next to the arch bridge leading to the island’s center
- Kite #6: Next to the Nursery
