Persona 3 Reload | Find & beat the Reaper

Persona 3 Reload has successfully brought a beloved classic into the spotlight, sparking rumors of potential remakes or remasters of other Persona titles. While this iteration of Persona 3 offers enhanced accessibility and gameplay, some adversaries remain formidable challenges.

If you’re seeking a test of skill, we’ll guide you through locating and defeating the Reaper in Persona 3 Reload.

How to Find the Reaper in Persona 3 Reload

The Reaper serves as an optional boss encounter in Persona 3 Reload. Unlike previous Persona 3 versions, where waiting on any Tartarus floor would prompt the Reaper’s appearance, the process in Reload differs, with specific conditions to meet.

Initially, it’s essential to note that the Reaper’s initial appearance in Persona 3 Reload unfolds as a pseudo-story event. To trigger this event, progress through the story until reaching 6/13 on the calendar. Upon reaching this milestone, venture into Tartarus and ascend to floor 62. Around this floor, your navigator will alert you to an imminent threat.

In prior iterations, the Reaper’s presence was indicated by ominous chains, signaling an impending chase. However, in Persona 3 Reload, a dark red aura enveloping your screen’s corners denotes the Reaper’s proximity. The Reaper will then begin patrolling the current floor. Notably, unlike previous games, the Reaper will pursue your party as you ascend to subsequent floors (excluding sub-boss and border floors), intensifying the challenge ahead.

The Reaper in Persona 3 Reload possesses no elemental weaknesses but also lacks resistance to any elements. However, he is impervious to all status ailments. Therefore, strategic preparation is crucial, with recommended party levels ranging between 60-80.

How to Beat the Reaper in Persona 3 Reload

With preparations in place, engage the Reaper in battle. The Reaper’s relentless onslaught comprises two attacks for every full rotation executed by your party. Expect formidable moves like Mudoon, Vorpal Blade, and Heat Riser.

We advise leveraging party members such as Aigis, Yukari, and Koromaru for their debuffing and healing capabilities. Initiate the battle by applying debuffs to the Reaper to counter his potential use of Heat Riser.

Subsequently, the encounter becomes a battle of endurance. As the Reaper lacks weaknesses, prioritize high-critical-rate attacks while maintaining consistent party healing. Depending on your party’s level, sustaining maximum health may not be necessary to withstand his assaults.

Nevertheless, it’s prudent to ensure the protagonist’s health is replenished before the Reaper’s subsequent attack. Continue chipping away at his formidable health pool, ensuring your Personas provide defense against fire, light, and dark elements. Should you fall in battle or deem additional leveling necessary, rest assured—the Reaper respawns.
