MW3: The best aim assist type

Call of Duty players on PC enjoy various advantages, but console aim assist for controller users remains significant. Recent CoD titles, including Modern Warfare 3, offer customizable aim assist options, enhancing player accuracy with different settings.

Among the aim assist options in MW3, the Black Ops type stands out as the best choice for controller users. It provides consistent performance, particularly effective at medium ranges where most battles occur.

The best aim assist type to choose

Similar to our recommendation for Modern Warfare 2, opting for the Black Ops aim assist type in MW3 is advised. While personal preference plays a role in aim assist snapping preferences, Black Ops offers a balanced and reliable performance.

MW3 features four aim assist types: Default, Precision, Focusing, and Black Ops. Default and Black Ops were developed by Infinity Ward and Treyarch respectively for their CoD entries.

Precision and Focusing are marketed for “accurate” players new to analog controllers, but they mainly affect the “Slowdown” assist (right stick) and not the “Rotational” assist (left stick). Default and Black Ops cover both.

Ultimately, the choice between Default and Black Ops comes down to preference and familiarity, particularly if you’ve played Modern Warfare or Black Ops titles. For newcomers, we recommend skipping Precision and Focusing and getting acquainted with Black Ops.
