How To Use The Brain Jars in Baldur’s Gate 3

Alright, fellow Baldur’s Gate 3 explorers, let’s talk about a brainy situation in the prologue. In the midst of all that “A Nautiloid in Hell” chaos, you might stumble upon something peculiar – brains in green jars. Yeah, they stand out like a sore thumb against the mind flayers’ flashy red and purple vibes.

Now, these brain jars might not rock your world during the prologue, but here’s the deal – hold onto them. When you hit the finale of Act 2, these jars are about to reveal their true purpose in the depths of the Mind Flayer Colony, rubbing shoulders with six other brain jars in that zone.

The Mind-Archive Interface Location In Baldur’s Gate 3

Head southwest of the Necrotic Laboratory region in the Mind Flayer Colony, and you’ll spot an isolated platform. Jump on it, and voila! Shelves stacked with BG3 treasures – Balthazar’s Notes, Rune Slates spillin’ mind flayer secrets, a crystal ball, and a Resonance Stone. And, the star of the show? A “Slack-Skinned Head” hooked up to the Mind-Archive Interface.

The game doesn’t handhold you on this one, but there’s a green brain jar named True Mind right below it, and a jar called Willing Mind chilling on the nearby shelf. Click on the Mind-Archive Interface, slam in one of those green brain jars, then chat up the Slack-Skinned Head. It’ll talk like it’s got the brain in the jar. When the chit-chat ends, grab the brain and toss in a fresh one.

Where To Find Brain Jars In Baldur’s Gate 3

Now, don’t go hunting for brains without a roadmap. In the Mind Flayer Colony, you got six brain jars to snatch, and two more hanging out in the nautiloid.

  • True Mind: Spills the beans on the True Soul tadpole creation process, right under the Mind-Archive Interface.
  • Willing Mind: Chillin’ on the shelf next to the Interface.
  • Closed Mind: Kicking it in one of the rooms in the Barracks.
  • Waking Mind: Behind a brain puzzle east of the Mind-Archive Interface. Strike a deal with a githzerai for a permanent edge on Intelligence saving throws.
  • Butchered Mind: Lounging on a shelf in the Morgue.
  • Fresh Mind: By some crates near the elevator.
  • Dark Mind: Chillin’ on a table in the same room where you find Shadowheart in the nautiloid.
  • Slave Mind: Hiding in the side room full of Mind Flayer Pods in the nautiloid.

Each brain’s got its own story, but keep an eye on Waking Mind – it dishes out a real mechanical bonus. Trust me, the Mind-Archive Interface is worth cracking open for these brainy tales and perks.
